When we started to go up this climb which even Lance Armstrong reffered to it as the hardest climb he’d ever ridden, the silence came uppon our group. If you have never ridden Mortirolo you can’t imagine what pain everybody among us felt. I can give you the profile…

…but this is not enough. Believe me, it’s not!!!

When everybody reached the top this is what happened in general:

Most of us have fallen on the floor and thanked god for the fact the our hearts were still beating ( a little fast tho:)). However, the only one who didn’t seemed almost dead was our chef “Dule”. He is the one who cares deeply if one of us starts feeling hungry.

When the rest of our group had rested enough we started to look around where is Dule and if he had already prepared a proper snack. It was then when we saw this sight:

We all wondered if it was true what we saw.  Was Dule actualy playing with “his salami” on top of Mortirolo? Then we had a better look and saw what Dule was holding in his hands…

…it was a reak salami! We all smiled and agreed in something: one may see very unusal things if he’s done Mortirolo We where just too tired…

And here is a prove that we really did it!

In the end I must say that it was one of my best holiday despite extreme tiredness and it’s side effect!

A few weeks ago me and my colleague were having one of those. I must say that he is a very strong athlete. Sometimes we’re riding together he really pushes me to the edges. This time we were climbing up Slovenian’s second highest mountain pass called Soriška Planina.  As always when climbing with John,  I was struggling like crazy.I don’t know if he noticed this but he certainly didn’t look like he was about to slow down. 

 Then the salvation came!  I couldn’t resist to smile…

This is where I stepped off my bike without the slightest hesitation. The rocks didn’t make me sad or angry at all (which shuldn’t be hard to belive after all that has been said:))! However, I couldn’t say this for my colleague. He was very dissapointed when he realized he could not go to the top that day. See for yourself!

The only thing we could do is to take some photos of the avalanche and go back the way we had come. Still it was a nice long ride which will certainly bring a smile on my face everytime I’ll look at the picture above.
